Return and Cancellation Policy
CHANCERY WATCH HOUSE - Statutory Returns & Cancellation Policy
1. Introduction and Scope
This Policy sets out the terms under which Chancery Watch House ("the Company") accepts the return of goods. The Company is committed to full compliance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. This policy applies exclusively to "Consumers" (individuals acting for purposes wholly or mainly outside their trade, business, craft, or profession) as defined under UK law.
2. Statutory Right to Cancel ("Cooling-Off Period")
In accordance with the Consumer Contracts Regulations, you have the legal right to cancel your contract with us for any reason, subject to the following strict conditions:
Notification Period: You must notify us of your decision to cancel within 14 calendar days beginning the day after the day on which the goods come into your physical possession (or the possession of a third party identified by you).
Method of Cancellation: To exercise the right to cancel, you must inform us via a clear statement (e.g., a letter sent by post or email). You may use the [Model Cancellation Form] provided, but it is not obligatory.
Return Deadline: Following notification, goods must be returned to our designated address without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your cancellation to us.
3. Condition of Goods and Diminished Value
You are permitted to handle the goods to the extent necessary to establish their nature, characteristics, and functioning—equivalent to the level of inspection allowed in a physical retail environment.
Deductions: We reserve the right to reduce your refund by an amount reflecting any loss in value of the goods resulting from unnecessary handling by you (e.g., removal of protective films, resizing of watch bracelets, or visible wear).
Packaging: While original packaging is not a legal requirement for a return, we strongly advise its use to protect the goods during transit.
4. Return Shipping Costs and Liability
Responsibility: Under this Policy, the Consumer shall bear the direct cost of returning the goods for "change of mind" cancellations.
Risk: The goods remain at your risk until they are received by the Company. We recommend using a tracked, insured delivery service, as no refund will be issued for goods lost or damaged in transit.
5. Faulty or Misdescribed Goods
If the goods are faulty, not fit for purpose, or not as described at the time of delivery, your rights are governed by the Consumer Rights Act 2015:
Short-term Right to Reject: Within 30 days of delivery, you may reject the goods for a full refund.
Repair or Replacement: After 30 days, but within six months, we reserve the right to offer a repair or replacement in the first instance.
Return Costs (Faulty Goods): If the goods are confirmed faulty by our technicians, the Company will reimburse reasonable standard return postage costs.
6. Exemptions to the Right to Cancel
Please note that the statutory right to cancel does not apply to:
Goods made to your specific specifications or clearly personalised (e.g., bespoke engravings).
Items where a security seal has been broken, or where hygiene seals have been removed.
7. Processing of Refunds
Refunds will be processed using the same means of payment as the initial transaction. We will issue the refund within 14 days of:
Receiving the goods back; or
Receiving evidence that the goods have been sent back (whichever is earlier).
